Sir Bernard Springer |
"The folically-challenged frozen poultry magnate" |
Bernie has been the club's most avid supporter ever since childhood and when his frozen chicken and turkey business suddenly became a huge success, back in the 1980’s, he knew exactly where he wanted to invest the profits. Whilst ‘Springer’s’ still continues to trade the man himself is rarely seen at the factory. Nowadays Bernie is almost entirely devoted to the running of Red Park City Football Club and his role as Chairman.
Usually a highly moral, enthusiastic and motivated businessman, he is, unfortunately, better suited to the ‘boom’ periods of the business cycle. When things get tough Sir Bernie tends to flounder and it is in these moments of weakness that he tends to call upon the help of his twin brother, Basil, whose business methods are of an altogether more sinister variety.
For now Sir Bernard manages to maintain his air of respectability and has no shortage of influential friends. His generosity, infectious persona and his whole-hearted dedication to do “whatever is best for the club” continues to win him admirers.
