When the former Griffins’ manager, Gordon Hall, was looking to strengthen his midfield he sent a scout north to trawl the clubs of Glasgow. Duncan ‘Decker’ McPherson's fearless demeanour was the stuff of local legend and, after witnessing him in action, the scout was so impressed he wrote a cheque for £1.5M on the spot! His arrival at Red Park brought some much needed solidity and dependability to the squad and made him an instant favourite with the fans.

The fiery Scotsman has had many a match day run-in with some of the top Premiership players over the years (including some of his team-mates!) but off the field he’s an altogether more reserved character. Most people aren’t aware of his heritage or his wealth and that’s just the way he likes it. Unlike many, McPherson manages to keep his private life out of the media spotlight …or perhaps it’s just that the media are too scared to shine it on him in the first place!
