Ravi is another player brought in during Terry Venables’ period in charge of the Griffins. Having been curiously overlooked by a succession of managers at his former club, Leeds United, he was more than happy to make a mid-season loan transfer to Red Park. The left-winger proved an immediate success with his numerous tricks and feints and soon had the home stands ‘singhing’ for joy.

The move also reunited Ravi with his old school pal and Griffins’ striker, Dean Stevens. This highly intuitive and youthfully inventive partnership has provided some of the most memorable goals of recent seasons. Ravi is now, thankfully, a fully contracted member of the squad.

Interestingly, the Red Park Number 17 has always harboured a desire to be a top chef and plans to turn this dream into a reality when he eventually retires from professional football. Never short of confidence, Ravi has been heard to say that one day he’ll be “bigger than Jamie Oliver”, Dean’s opinion is that he’ll certainly be fatter!
